Survey says: You are a slacker

advertisement

A new survey of 9,255 employees, hiring managers and HR professionals has uncovered this shocker -- you slack off at work.

Well, probably not you, but pretty much everyone around you. The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive for CareerBuilder.com found that nearly one-third (29%, to be precise) of workers will be doing their holiday shopping online and on company time. Probably buying something for the department gift exchange, right?

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Sixty-one percent of workers use the Internet for non-work related research and activities while they are at work. Among these workers, 37 percent said they spend an average of more than 30 minutes of their workday on non-work related online activities and 18 percent said they spend an average of an hour or more.

Ouch. Sucks for employers... and of course Newsvine is considered "research" right?
